Sam Potts - Visual Head Captain
Sam is the visual caption head and ensemble coordinator. Sam is a alumni of Taft High School, class of 2014. During his time as a student, he performed with the Marching Band, Concert Band, Jazz Band, Musical Pit, and Winterguard, helping lead the latter to a WGASC Championship. He held the title of Assistant Drum Major during his junior and senior years, and was awarded the prestigious Director’s Award for Band for his exemplary service and dedication as a student.
Sam brings a wealth of outside experience to Taft in performance and education. Sam performed with the Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps in 2014 and Gold Drum and Bugle Corps in 2012 and 2013. He marched with Dark Sky Percussion in 2013, earning a silver medal at SCPA Championships and 4th place at WGI World Championships. Sam has also performed with the California State University, Northridge Wind Symphony and marched the Rose Parade with the Los Angeles Unified All-District Honor Marching Band. In addition to Taft, he has worked as a visual technician with marching band and indoor percussion programs at Granada Hills Charter High School and Valencia High School. These experiences give him a well-rounded education that he is able to share and give back to the young performers at Taft High School through instruction and design.
Sam is currently finishing his Civil Engineering degree at California State University, Northridge and holds an Engineer-in-Training license with the State of California.

Jewel Dominguez - Color Guard Captain
Jewel Dominguez is the color guard caption head at Taft high school. In addition to being an alumni of the marching band (2010-2013) she has spent three years (2012-2014) marching with Gold Drum and Bugle corps, as well as spending 2014/15 with the Mandarins Drum and Bugle Corps. She started as a member of the marching band becoming captain in 2012. Jewel has also been a part of the concert band and winter guard programs. In her first year (2013) on the staff she served as the colorguard technician, helping the guard to a gold medal at WGASC championships. Jewel took over as lead coach for the guard in 2014 and successfully directed the colorguard in both marching and winter seasons. She is currently working towards a degree in child development at Pierce college and has plans to transfer to Cal State Northridge to become an occupational therapist. She is looking forward to another season with the marching band and colorguard as well as her seventh consecutive year at Taft.

Brendan Thompson is a graduate of Taft Charter High School and an avid percussionist. He is well versed in virtually all percussion styles and drumline. Brendan brings a professional environment to the students of Taft while teaching technique, groove, marching instruction, music, and overall fundamentals to the Taft Charter High School drumline.
